SEARCH ENGINE SUBMISSION

There are various thoughts on search engine submission. There are companies that advertise that they will submit your web site to thousands of search engines for a modest fee. This in my opinion is taking advantage of people that have limited Internet knowledge. It may have some benefit if you’re thinking of doing business in many different countries with a lot of different languages. If you are not, there are free alternatives.

Periodic Submissions

You can submit your web site to the major search engines, Google, Yahoo, MSN and Ask.com by yourself. DMOZ is another (directory), but it is difficult to get a listing. If you add to or change your web site frequently, it might be a good idea to submit your website from time to time. You do not want to chance that the search engines miss crawling your website.

Get Indexed

It is believed that if you do nothing at all, the search engines will eventually find your web site and crawl it. This is true, but it may take time and if you’re in business on the Internet you want to be indexed. Remember, the most important factor in having a web site is to have it found by the search engines.
